On March 12th, 2015, the writing world lost one of its greatest contemporary heroes - Sir Terrence "Terry" Pratchett. To honor his life, a group of writers published an anthology of stories that showcased his influence on their writing, and which also helped bring awareness of the disease that contributed to his end, Alzheimer's Disease. That anthology was The Longest Night Watch, volume 1. It was a success, and the group--now known as "The Longest Night Watch" Volume 1--went on to enter a writing competition, coming in second by fractions of a point. The submissions from that writing competition are in this volume, along with original short stories and poems from many of the contributors to the first volume, and a slew of new authors. Contributors to this volume are: Amanda Parker Adams, Andrew Barber, AR Harlow, Becca Bachlott, Brittany Tucker, Carol Gyzander, Cayleigh Stickler, D.R. Perry, Debbie Manber Kupfer, Fiona Teh, Georgette Frey, Janet Gershen-Siegel, Jennifer Stibbards, Joshua L. Cejka, Kate Post, Katelyn Scarlett, L. Anne Wooley, Michael J. Medeiros, Michael Walton, R.R. Virdi, Ryn Richmond, Skye Hegyes, Thomas E. Harper, Trine Jensegg, Virginia Carraway Stark and the team of The Longest Night Watch.
Announcing Volume 2 of The Longest Night Watch. 50% more aliens, 700% more heart!
David Bowie: Rockstar, Free Spirit, Goblin King. Cancer victim. Alan Rickman: Angel, Alien, Potions Master. Cancer victim. Lost to us early in 2016, the shock of learning of their private battles--as well as personal experiences with cancer--galvanized a group of authors, editors, publicists and artists to come together and do what we do best--donate our talents to the fight against cancer.
All proceeds from this charity anthology are being donated to some of the most dedicated cancer researchers out there: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, with the goal of helping them defeat cancer.
This anthology contains short stories and poems inspired by the lives and art of Bowie and Rickman, as well as fiction and non-fiction works about facing cancer in the ones we love and ourselves. For more information, visit the Facebook page, Instagram, or Twitter.
On March 12th, 2015, the writing world lost one of its greatest contemporary heroes - Sir Terrence "Terry" Pratchett. To honor his life, a group of writers decided to publish an anthology of stories that showcased his influence on their writing, and also would help bring awareness of the disease that contributed to his end, Alzheimer's Disease. Found in this volume are eleven stories and poems by nine authors, most of which are humorous and fantastical, but threaded among those are tales of the loss and confusion unique to Alzheimer's, dementia, and those who must watch their loved ones disappear before their eyes. Contributing writers include Amanda Parker Adams, Andrew Barber, Joshua L. Cejka, Connie Cockrell, Janet Gershen-Siegel, D.R. Perry, R.R. Virdi, Michael Walton and Lacey D. Sutton. All proceeds from sales of this book will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association, in the hope of one day finding a cure.
